This Personal Information Collection Statement is given by United Prime Educational Publishing (HK) Limited (“UPEP“, “we”, “us” or “our”) pursuant to the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Chapter 486 of the laws of Hong Kong) (the “Ordinance”).
UPEP may collect your personal data from time to time in our dealing with you and it recognises its responsibilities in relation to the collection, holding, processing, use and/or transfer of personal data under the Ordinance.
Depending on the purpose of the collection, the personal data which may be collected from you includes but does not limit to your name, contact address, contact telephone number, email address, occupation, employer and/or job position. UPEP will indicate on the forms collecting the personal data which of the data requested is mandatory. If you do not supply the mandatory data, UPEP may not be able to deliver the products, services or information in relation to which the data is collected.
UPEP will not provide your and/or your clients’ personal data to third parties for direct marketing or other unrelated purposes without your and/or your clients’ consent.
Purposes
The personal data collected may be electronically or manually processed/used for the following purposes:
- processing your orders for our products and/or services;
- verifying your identity for access to private contents of our website and applications or for participating in activities conducted by UPEP;
- researches and customer surveys;
- processing your application for membership of UPEP; managing, operating and maintaining the membership; and providing you with information on the activities and promotions offered by UPEP;
- billing and debt collection;
- dealing with your suggestion, enquiry and complaint;
- communicating with you generally; and
- subject to the provisions of applicable laws directing marketing communications to you.
Transfer of Personal Data
Your personal data will be kept confidential, but UPEP may transfer your personal data to a data processor (e.g. printer, production house, providers of mailing services, cloud servers, storage providers, or a third party who powers UPEP’s products and services) engaged by UPEP to process or handle personal data on its behalf, subject to a duty of confidentiality. In particular, UPEP may use third-party providers of data storage, Google, Youtube, Instagram and Facebook (for matching of your personal data with their database in order to send you direct marketing materials through your Google, Youtube, Instagram and/or Facebook account(s)), digital marketing and website analytic agencies (for display of advertising materials on websites that you may visit, and analysis of your online behaviour and usage of our products and services).
As the Internet is a global environment, you accept and agree that this will include the transfer of your personal information to other countries and regions around the world.
Rights of Access and Correction to Data Collected
Under the Ordinance, you have a right to ascertain whether UPEP holds your personal data, to obtain a copy of the data, and to correct any data that is inaccurate. You may also request UPEP to inform you of the type of personal data in its possession. All data access requests shall be made using the form prescribed by the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (the “Privacy Commissioner”) which may be found on the official website of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner or via the link below:

A reasonable fee may be charged to offset our administrative and actual costs incurred in complying with your data access requests.
